NARRATIVE WRITING: LESSON & RESOURCES

This resource contains everything you need to get going with Narrative Writing in your classroom using Picture Prompts. 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES: 
• To explore connections between images and words. 
• To use a range of narrative writing skills.
• To use the senses to make effective narrations.
• To develop a narration from personal experience, drawing on imaginative skills and techniques.
• To articulate experiences and express what is thought, felt and imagined. 

LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE LESSON:
WITH ALL STUDENTS: the Narrative structure is noticeable, but the reader may have to infer it, the sequence of episodes moves logically through time with some gaps.
WITH MOST STUDENTS: the Narrative structure is evident – sequence of episodes moves logically through time with a beginning, middle and ending with few gaps.
WITH SOME STUDENTS: Narrative structure clear, the sequence of episodes moves logically through time without noticeable gaps.
